OTEANANKANDURO
Ghanaian artist, Oteanankanduro is an intuitive and performance artist. His first names, Ato Kwamina, translate to creator. He draws inspiration from those and his artist name, Oteanankanduro, which means healer.

Oteanankanduro is a refined actor, singer, writer and expressive body and movement artist. Throughout the years, he’s created his original work with a critical look at ‘the self’ which is an important element to his narratives that naturally capture the story of the effeminate through the subjects of culture, social constructs, spirituality and sexuality in the African context. His recent works explore the medium of film and illustrations. He is a potent Akan translator.

The more prominence and/or acceptance he garners, the more his childhood curiousity is brought to light: “Where are all the people like me?”

He shows strong interest and support for Mental Health, Human Rights and Environmental Protection; with song, poetry, dance, film or theatre, believing that art is not merely a tool for entertainment but also an opportunity for positive activism.

I am all there is

in one body, one spirit, one soul:

Not man, not woman; not wo-man

Not broken, not silenced, not eclipsed

I’m just the hue of mankind-

Human!

That’s all there is

It’s all I’ll ever be.
